Don’t care about the snowfall

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

What does it mean when 5-10 new inches of snow fall over-night. You guessed it, its time to ride your bicycle. Yes, it was one of those rides where the steam rises up off the wet streets and I wonder if I’ll get plowed by the blade of a plow-truck.
Today, as usual, I didn’t get to my own bicycle….which only needs a complete overhaul, wheel build and shock overhaul……It was cool, much of the service day….and by service day I mean all 3 hours of it…was spent on Bruno’s Tri Bike. Lots of internal cables, a beautiful carbon Cobra tri bar and a computer with cadence. At the end of the day, really a beautiful machine. If I was more tech savvy, I would have taken a pic of it for the blog. Let me tell you the best thing about cramming all your repairs into 3 hrs and not having to ‘man’ the shop for 8 hrs…its busting out to ride in the sunshine home. Beautiful out. Jesus, maybe I”m getting soft.

Pinched for Leadville

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Well, I forgot to tell you all the great news. For the 3rd year in a row, I’ve been pinched for Leadville. The entry form is something that you’d see around these parts of Utah for a local event. They ask you your profession. Of course, I put ‘Fucking Bike Shop Owner” so they’d let me in. For the 3rd year straight….no dice. I’ve got a new plan for next year. And its top secret.
Well, that means that I’ll hopefully have a little travel money set aside for SSWC 2008 in Napa.
As you might imagine, the a-hem ‘race’ filled up in 40 min. The real fun is not participating in the race, but taking part in things that support the event. True Dharma Wheels style.

Welcome to the Angry Owner Blog….Wordpress style.

Had the dental show on Friday.  So what? you say…that has nothing to do with cycling.  Well, I can compare it to Interbike…the only other tradeshow I really go to on a regular basis.  Interbike has more drinking (although I did go to the Tattoo convention which was the same day and same venue as the dental show).  What is the same is the vendors trying get you to buy $10,000 worth of stuff at the show.  It was also very cool to see a few dentists whom I don’t see any time of year except the dental show.  Interbike is like that too.  Its like a wedding that everybody finds time for.  Gearing up for the St. George race March 1st.  Actually, I have no intention of racing.  I just want to go down and ride bicycles in the sun.  Got a gravity dropper on the demo bike and its ready to rock down little creek.  Don’t know where that is in southern Utah, it because its kinda a secret….for now.
