First, let me get something very important out of the way. I’ve been contacted by many people in the cycling world to get my opinion on the Hit and Run case that happened in Edwards (“Vail”) recently. Read about it here.
Alright, here is the Dr. Jon decision on the case….I don’t have one and none of us on the interwebs will truely know what happened on the road, in the court room…or outside the court room. All that I hope for is that truth and fairness are found. This guy hit a cyclist, then ignored the accident…then tried to cover it up. He should be meant to pay up. Money? jail time? whatever. That is not for me/us to decide. So don’t go apeshit that this guy didn’t get time. Personally, I’d ask the anesthesiologist who was injured what he feels that fair compensation should be…and if its reasonable, I’d grant it. Hows that from a socialist?
And FROM THE LOOKS OF IT, a monetary settlement was reached…as Erzinger’s plea deal was accepted. The two parties’ attorneys worked out a deal, and justice has been served without having to go to court. I think that Dr. Milo made an excellent choice. A trial does nothing but waste time (and $) and in the end…nobody really gets what they want or really wins. So thats it. End of my story. I’m not impressed with all this “Fuck Vail” fallout. If you think that you can blame a town for the legal outcome of a case, you are just a dipshit know it all cyclist. Maybe you should be a brain surgeon? or tell your pilots how to fly the next plane you are on…Pull Vail from the Pro Tour Race? Will that fix the situation? No. It’ll fuck the town and more specifically the small businesses. Don’t be a fucking crybaby.
