Sundance Draws to a close.

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Ah, the festival is drawing to a close, and all is well. Movies were seen, the Sons rehearsed, a world tour was planned….or at least maybe a Portlandia tour.
In service news, you’ll be interested to know that I found an ant in my graduated cylinder I use to measure oil volumes for forks…..And no, it did not make it into a fork.

Here is a great little movie made about Sean….

FROM STEEL: The Making of a Soulcraft from michael evans on Vimeo.

Another fun little clip….

I’d like to share this..
Bandana for seatpost from fixed gear – $50 (Mass Ave. Berklee, Symphon)
Date: 2011-01-26, 2:30PM EST
Reply to: [deleted]

I recently sold my 2008 Fuji Track bike though the buyer refused to take my seatpost bandana. I told him that it will give him street cred but he refused, telling me I might need it to wipe my bohemian tears. What he didn’t know is that I actually have several other dirty bandanas so I really don’t need this one. His loss is your gain!

This bandana is from a real fixed gear track bike – ridden by an authentic hipster with rad side-swept bangs. It is an essential piece of riding gear for those who are looking to impress the skinniest girl on the block. Keep your seatpost warm all winter with this filthy rag! All offers considered.

My seatpost was pretty cold yesterday, now that I think about it
And this…

The 2011 Day of my Birth Post.

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Yes, its true. I am now the same age that “Jesus” GG Allin was when he….died. Who was GiGi?

I am wearing sunglasses like that this evening when I go out for Bikedance…
Don’t worry if your a patient tomorrow…I’ll be in bed this evening at the stroke of 8.
Many thanks to those who have wished me “well” for my birthday. Here are some of the highlight photos that have entered the Inbox.
Of course, there are girls bonging beers…

There are other bikini’s

650B even sent me a picture of him in Chicago on Halloween in Boystown!

Ironically, I think this guy is what GiGi would look like today if he didn’t OD.

This is not what GiGi would look like…..

That would be Dan Cheever in later years..

Just to put a little bicycle influence into it…here is a beautiful shot.

Those guys at Black Sheep know what they are doing…maybe they can help out this guy?

Alright, many have asked how the day was. Well, my parents are in town, and we saw a sundance movie. Position Among The Stars….a documentary on living in Indonesia…or anywhere. A beautiful film….It’ll win the Jury prize this year….Even a nutjob like me can see that.
My mother baked me my favorite cookies and MrsDrE picked up some OE.

I noticed on the Sundance 2011 logo, they stole BRoses’ idea for the bunny suit…

I’m sure you see it too.

Oh, this was suggested to be my next tattoo….I could only ask “which one am I?”

You’d think it was summer.

Because its that busy.

But the weather has cooled back off, Sundance is almost here, and I even got to ski in the powder yesterday….I may even go back out in an hour or so.
Yeah, things are pretty rad…like this.

and this…

and even this…

But do you know what the most rad thing is in this world ???

OK, on to some bike news…The TDU is in full force.
Lances investigation is ongoing. Info HERE and HERE.
In local cycling news….BIKEDANCE will be on my birthday this year. Monday, Jan 24th. Meet at 5ish at White Pine. We’ll have the Bon Scot Whiskey bar set up. Alas, I will not be joining in the march to mainstreet because 1. my parents are leaving early the next morning 2. I have surgery 3. I don’t feel like working super hung over. 4. I do not trust that cyclists + sundance + bar night will not = hangover.

So I called Waterford Cycles for the first time in my life yesterday. What a wonderful experience….it was everything I hoped it would be. For those if you who don’t know the history, read it here. I love old Schwinns….Cruisers, Paramounts…..I’ve owned both. I have a Schwinn banner in my shop that is as old as I am. Dharma Wheels has a Schwinn pump (lovingly refurbished by me) that is OLDER than I am. Who refurb’s a pump. I fucking do!
I’ve always wanted a Waterford. Its almost a shame that we have custom steel options like I.F. and Cielo…..what to do. At least I can hop on the fit cycle and have Tim tell me how fast I look. Maybe I can help him create a parameter in ReTul that shows how far my gut is getting to my knees when I pedal these days.
Alrighty, ready…set…

Running like a turbo charged lawn mower.

Yeah, after 2 min of trying to think up a title….thats all I came up with.
Tragedy sometimes brings you closer. I actually don’t like it that way, but I have no say in it. We’ve been in contact with people in the dirty T.
You know, I’m okay with drugs, guns, etc….but I thought that if you wanted to make a political statement by shooting someone….that someone had to be you. To the dead and wounded, Utah cyclists are thinking about you and hoping that if it was your time, your on the long ride or can get back in the saddle sooner than later.

If your able to create enough ejection fraction to create consciousness….watch this.

Here is Duff’s bike with the new, and definitely modified and improved Surly front rack.

For those of you in the area, there will be a snow bike ride tomorrow at 10am at the round valley way trialhead. for details on how to get there….I describe it as the one in park meadows that is closest to the NAC.
I’d like to thank our captain Dave for this one…

Ha, take a look at this…

I’m trying to think up new ideas for our team parties…maybe drunkjousting/swordfighting?

All right, its time to eat pancakes, drink espresso and then go build wheels.

Close to bridging the gap.

By that I mean that I’m getting close to rejoining the peloton in term of catching up with work and such. There are of course no shortage of fun pictures to share with you so that I can procrastinate before starting my day.
Here is the best 1/1/11 sign I was sent…

I’d like to show some pictures that ChrisP sent me…

Pretty much the same shit we do behind the shop.

There have been many custom bikes to build and/or, well, customize.

I’d like to thank Eben for sharing with me a beautiful picture of “pantalones”

Yeah, I wear em….I don’t care….Fuck You.
The countdown for Johnny Brooks departure is winding down. He, Julian and ChrisP got their winter riding on….I’m sure I was working.

I received this, not from any of my former commanding officers….

Its important to stay grounded when your deployed. During my time in the service, I remember that our computers at the hospital couldn’t even open up ESPN…let alone spankwire.
Alrighty, I’m close to calling it a day for this blog.
Kiss the Goat….

Order your Evil and AHTBM shit…
And get some freedom!

Its awesome….like a gun that shoots rainbows.

Our title today, boys and girls, comes from none-other than Mrs.Dr.Evil. Well done on ya.
There is so much more to do than talk about these days….
I’ve been enjoying “following” the Red Wings and actually getting back into watching a sporting event that I can share with the section of public that doesn’t wear tap shoes and pantalones. Its kinda fun, because I bore them all to death talking about frame geometry and how awesome the new boxxer is.
Here are some questions and answers from Stevil…

Some total rusty bucket with a graphic of an American Indian on the chain guard that my neighbors gave me when I was like, eight.

Committed. Passionate. Abrasive.
Are you impressed…you should be. Steve is in the process of creating a Smokey and the Bandit jacket in conjunction with EWR. Its $160, you must place a preorder, and it looks like this. Order HERE.

Take a look, its legit.

While your wallet is out, also order a Evil jersey….HERE.

In other nooze, the world champs of lontail polo took place….I guess.

And speaking of rainbows, the unicorn force bicycle was found….

Either this is
a. The new Unicorn Force ultra light TTT (top tubeless technology)
b. The new Unicorn Force BGC (boys/girls convertible) shown without the optional top tube
c. some numb nuts cut through the top tube to remove the bike lock and created a fresh new look

Awesome, just in case you didn’t believe me. Alright, I’m late for work.

Happy Black Flag Day…

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

That would be 1111…….because it looks like the black flag ‘logo’.

Big props to Duff, who figured out how to get his skis on his bike. Good on ya Son!

Kudos to Ali, who makes DH happen in the snow.

I’d like to thank Brian F for this link. If you’ve ever wondered how excited people can get about a new bicycle or motorcycle….this is it. I don’t like seeing people in stress, so don’t worry, this guy doesn’t have a heart attach when he gets his restored motorcycle back from his kids. Enjoy this. Many people that we build $10,000 bikes for have the shakes so badly that they can barely fill out their check. They spell their own names wrong. And I love it…..this is what pure happiness looks like.

The Norton Project from Jamtron on Vimeo.

If you would like to take more than 5 minutes to watch another fun is a movie about F(at)B(ald)M(en). Its neat.

I Love My Bicycle: The Story of FBM (Full Movie) from Joe Stakun on Vimeo.

Oh yeah, Stevil said “Smokey and the Bandit is the White Trash Star Wars”. I think that was in the bible or something.
Well, I hope 2011 is a great year for everybody….and nobody looses their ass.

I hope you don’t break anything…

And hey, order up an evil jersey….Don’t be shy. You’ll get more free beer than you can imagine, women will want you – men will want to BE you. Don’t be intimidated. Cross over the line and join the black train of death.
